The Old Covenant
The old covenant
Poem by Amira Haddad
I had a rough start
All areas were rendered with strife
Demons whispered with taunts
My pain increased daily
While everyone ignores and flaunts
The old covenant was a living hell
I was a classic people’s pleaser
In case you couldn’t tell
I tried to move past the generational curses
But the harder I pushed
The pain reimburses
I have had enough with this generation
Crying out to Lord Jesus
He hears the desperation
And delivers
He has set the path straight
Where lies are intolerable
Thus, will determine my fate
Lord Jesus
I thank You for setting me free
The truth is staring before me
I am not a joke
As many would utter
All because I am different
And not a cookie cutter
Anything to destroy my faith
Anything to divert my focus on You
The devil is mad
so he must convince others I am evil
How pathetic and sad
Lord Jesus
I praise You with my voice
Within my free will
You are my wise choice
A true friend
Lays down his life
And sticks around until the end
But You dwell in me forever
And forever
The old covenant is broken
No lies or diversions
Yet, the world thinks I’m joking?
Keep laughing
Because the end of the wicked is coming
Ignore the truth while you can
Tickle your own ears while humming
It irritates the demons to see the light
So many attempts to kill my faith
Yet, Jesus enables me for a good fight
The warfare is real
Do not be deceived
Satan is a liar and loves to kill
Heavenly Father,
Please have mercy on this generation
They are deeply lost and confuse
In many situations
The blind follow the blind
But why be so unkind?
The love for many has truly gone cold
Jesus is hope
And the truth shall be told
It aches me to see the mass deception
No matter where you are from
You can have true redemption
Jesus Christ can break the curses
Beginning a new chapter
Amen!
